A mixture of 3D and Photoshop coming along nicely. :) 

Needed a zipper clip. Appeared my own made zipper was no good. So I think, 'I buy one, saves me time'. The best was 15 bucks. Now I don't mind buying 3D models and help starving 3D artists but 15 bucks for a zipper... Besides it was in .max format which I can't handle anyway. So I harvested what I could from my own 3D zipper and rebuild the rest. Saved me 15 bucks for something else. :) 

Next image is a bit delayed because I ran into one of the new covid strains. :( Am feeling much better now then the past 4 days though.

For those interested here's a tiny cut-out from the background for the next image, that's painfully slow  rendering in the background here, while eating up all my memory.

There just aren't enough hours in a day. There's things I want to do but have to 'let go' because I realize I've only 2 hands... I can only work on 1 thing at the time.  It's not fair! I want 4! (and 2 heads or 4 pair of eyes).

Oké... Taking a screenshot on a 4k monitor set to 2560x1440 still delivers 4k screengrabs, hmmm. Probably logical, just unexpected. 

Working a bit on a scene that is in the works for years I added last year a gated dome that is being pulled up. Part of that mechanism is this next thing and I'm trying to find a not too visual eye-catching way to contain the pulley.

So I thought up the next encasing:

Problem is no matter how you texture this (even when I round of the corners) it will not look as a holder made out of individual stones.

Maybe if I learned to properly UV map I might pull it off but yep, one day. So looking at it I came on the idea to build it out of individual cubes instead out of just 1 and to distort their square looks with the use of sub polygon displacement (SPD). Adding some random sub divisions to the cubes themselfes you get this without SPD,

Getting an headache. Trying for weeks now to add another payment option to the forum. A free version of Verotel billing showed up during my vacation but it needs to be integrated into the 4forum and the only way that can be done is through a +200.- bucks aMember Pro script. 

Just had it installed and it reads: Invision is not configured to use MySQL. Can't be integrated 

Not sure if that can be fixed or I'm going to have to ask my money back and start sulking in a corner. 

When something comes out of the render and you think, 'meh' (way too sharp reflections), you fix it with a 10 pixel wide brush which equals to roughly 2 hours work on a 1700 x 500 pixel wide surface.

Smudge smudge, wish I had a proper latex shader for C4D. 

Not really have a spider phobia but... this animated .png file I made that keeps running in the background while I'm working on a new "IE" chapter creeps me out.

  Something went wronk...

Pulling my hair out at the moment. Total block when it comes to the background. Foreground is yummie but it needs something to connect to. A black or white bg is so dull.... Need something not too far fetched scifi, not too hard (cold laboratory), product placement announcement something something....

urgh. 

Went to my nephrologist yesterday. My kidney function went up last time by 4%, from 28% to 32%!

Still miserable, you should have 200% but it's slightly up and not down, which is good! 

Today is a rest day. Cleaning a bit my computer, up which during the build up to a image, gets littered with partial, failed, extra renders, stock images, screenshots and what not. If my computer where my atelier it would look like a bomb has gone off. 

So time to make some room in the madness. 

This made me laugh and cry.

Laugh  because CCP can't get it right even if they wanted to (I played EVE Online for 6 years before getting so unholly scammed all fun was gone), cry  because it reminds me of the time I tried to sell A2 posters, the price is more or less the same, low amount for the item itself and shipping costs going through the planetary roof!

It's highly experimental, I can write that and it takes way more time then I had thought before I drifted this way.

At best I'll be able to crunch out a few pages before resorting back to the 'normal' way of telling the MNW story.

It's a bit a weird feeling, having fun again doing what I do. Haven't felt that in month's! Maybe, just maybe (knock on wood) end of the week another new image ready...
